There were builders who would get their hands on a blueprint or drawing and would copy the plans for a homeowner. So there are homes out there that look like a Sears Catalog home but really are not a kit home. WebThe Sears kit home was popular during this era and there were many competitors in this arena. House plan catalogs offered many choices of styles, in just about every shape one could imagine. Architects specializing in modern styles, like Frank Lloyd Wright and Julia Morgan were well known for their striking American designs.
