Demonstrated proficiency means showing consistency over time in the following skills: Make the calls appropriate for the rated level of fencing (as listed below). WebFencers try to influence the referee by acting confident or yelling. Sometimes coaches do it too. Stay consistent in your calls and try to tune it out when this happens. If fencers see you making makeup calls, or hesitate and then go with the yeller, that will be their clue to start acting on every touch.
